THREE friends have pledged to run the London Marathon despite one of them suffering a hip injury during their rigorous training.

Annabel Simson, 21, Lauren Smith, 21, and Rory Miles, 20, from Chichester, will run the London Marathon on April 26 in aid of a charity set up by Annabel’s Grandfather, called ‘the David Shepherd Wildlife Foundation’.

“We have had our putting minor stops for a few weeks though our determination is getting us through along with hopefully the amazing feeling we will share on the day,” said Annabel.

“Lauren and Rory have been steaming ahead with their training whilst sadly I suffered a hip injury a few weeks ago and couldn’t walk for a week.

I am now undergoing physio – though the injury is not enough to put me off and the finish line is calling!”

The charity sends undercover agents to investigate illegal wildlife crime.

It also trains and supplies anti-poaching patrols and establishes nature reserves and other protected areas.
