Hospital staff receive free homemade meals through donation supply chain initiative set up by farmers

Staff in the intensive care unit at St Richard’s Hospital have benefited from top-quality homemade meals during the pandemic thanks to an initiative set up by a Storrington wholesaler.

Chef’s Farms created a devoted co-operative of local farmers and growers to take part in the donation supply chain, which was set up to help and thank key workers at the Chichester hospital.

Supplies of beef from the Goodwood Home Farm, lamb from Angmering Park Farms and locally-grown vegetables enabled chefs at Midhurst caterers Jacaranda to develop a range of nutritious meals.

Originally a supplier for hotels and restaurants across Sussex – such as Ockenden Manor, South Lodge, The Parsons Table and Bailiffscourt – Chef’s Farms introduced a home-delivery service of local, quality, seasonal and sustainable produce last year.

Customers can buy seasonal produce – with little or no packaging – which is harvested in under 24 hours and delivered from ethical and ecologically mindful producers from over 25 Sussex farms, all of whom are within easy reach of Storrington-based Chef’s Farms.
