Last few days for Observer Community Award nominations
This is a final call for nominations for this year's Observer Community Awards!
All new entries must be received by next Thursday, October 27, and can come from the Chichester, Bognor Regis and Midhurst and Petworth areas.
Nominations can be emailed to [email protected] with brief details of why they deserve an award, and a contact number.
It means there’s now just a week left to put forward a person, group, event or sports team deserving of recognition.
We are particularly looking for nominations for the following categories:
Best Community Event
Community content deputy editor Kelly Brown said: “It’s come around quickly, but we are all thoroughly looking forward to our special awards night at Bognor Butlin’s on December 12, again hosted by the brilliant Fred Dinenage, where all the winners will be announced.
“It will be down to you, the readers, to cast your vote, but before then we are still looking for entries in every category.
“So if you know a person or group that really deserves to be recognised, don’t delay, get your nominations off now.”
Some of the super nominations that have recently come in include Elizabeth Trett, who despite being in her 80s and having some health issues, supports others in her community as well as a number of local charities.
Chichester city Green Party councillor Sarah Sharp has also been put forward for one of our prizes.
She has been a big part of the 20’s Plenty campaign for Chichester, as well as being a big campaigner for more sustainable transport for the city - and all that despite breaking a number of bones in an horrific cycling accident earlier this year.
Rennie Wells has been called a ‘tireless fundraiser’ who also got her hands dirty to revamp two gardens at St Richards Hospital in Chichester for the benefit of patients and outpatients alike.
And Apulstock, an annual music festival for adults with learning disabilities, has just been put forward for Best Community Event.
Once the entries are in, each nominee will be profiled in this newspaper so our readers have the chance to vote for winners in each category.
All of the nominees, their families and friends, and those who nominated them, are then invited to our glitzy awards night at Bognor Butlin’s. It takes place on December 12 and Fred Dinenage is once again host.
