More than 700 Lavant properties left without electricity

A widespread power outage left more than 700 properties without electricity in Lavant today (Friday, August 21).

The outage affected 767 customers of Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSE).

SSE thanked customers for their patience as engineers work to resolve the issue.

The Earl of March pub in Lavant tweeted: "Good afternoon everyone! A regional power cut is affecting us at present- earliest resolution is expected at 4.30, may be later. Keep safe, and see you all soon!"

It later said the power had returned.

A spokesman for SSE said: “At 13:18 today, Scottish and Southern Electricity Network (SSEN) was alerted to a fault affecting 767 customers in Lavant, Chichester.

Engineers attended and within one hour had safely restored supplies to 189 of those affected. The remaining 564 customers were back on supply after one hour and eleven minutes, and the cause of the outage is weather related.

“SSEN thanks its customers for their patience while its engineers works to safely restore power to Lavant.”
