Petition to remove 'horrendous' Chichester cycle way

A petition has been set up calling on the county council to rethink the controversial new cycle way.

The temporary cycle lanes from Spitalfield Lane to the railway station have proved a contentious topic for residents as many have branded them 'a waste of time a money'.

She described effects of the traffic wands as 'horrendous' and said:It is complicated and confusing. It's like they just arrived overnight. Everyone thought they were road works and then we found out that they weren't.

Chichester cycle lanes: 'Stop getting hot under the collar', councillor urges"There are never any cyclists on it. Every time I have been and out [of the city] there has been traffic jams and that's not even with kids back at school or rush hours.

"Almost everyone else isn't happy about them. They must be able to do something better, I think they are an eyesore.

"Chichester is a beautiful and historic city and it is losing that. It's like we are in a massive city — it's not Birmingham it's little Chichester. It's deterring people from entering into the town when we need everyone in eating, drinking and shopping.
