The facilities will reopen this weekend.

The council is urging residents and visitors to stay safe while enjoying its play areas by following the guidelines in place at each site.

These include:

– If you have any symptoms related to coronavirus, such as a persistent cough or high temperature, please return home and follow government advice.

– If you can, consider playing other games that you can play in the park, such as football or throwing a Frisbee, that do not involve touching fixed play equipment.

– If the park is busy and you can’t stay safe and keep a space, it may be worth returning at a quieter time.

– Please make sure that you use hand sanitiser before and after using the play equipment.

– Please have consideration for others. If there’s a queue, please limit your time on the play equipment so that everyone can have a go.

– If you have food or drink with you, please take it to a quiet area of the park and make sure that you clean your hands before eating.

– Please remember to place any rubbish in a bin, or even better, take it home to recycle.

Councillor Penny Plant, Cabinet Member for Environment and Chichester Contract Services at Chichester District Council, said: “We’re delighted to be able to welcome people back to our play areas once again.

“During the lockdown, our Parks and Gardens team have been working incredibly hard to keep these areas in great condition and to plan for a safe reopening.

“The safety of those visiting our parks is our top priority, so we have put clear guidance in place at each of our play areas.

“Although the risk of catching coronavirus is lower when outdoors, the virus can remain active on surfaces and so we would encourage everyone to keep themselves and others safe by reading and following this advice.

“We’d also encourage people to play their part by following the latest Government guidance, which can be found at www.gov.uk/coronavirus.”
