Pumpkin carving sessions for the Chichester community this Hallowe’en weekend

With community activities hard to come by due to social distancing restrictions, CCDT was more determined than ever to provide something that enabled community members to come together and have some good old-fashioned pumpkin carving fun.

Graylingwell Chapel, in Graylingwell Park, is hosting the pumpkin carving, which takes place from 10am-6pm on October 30 and 31, with each group at a separate carving station, in maximum groups of six, with tables and tools wiped down and cleaned between each participant.

With one-hour slots there is plenty of time to carve a masterpiece, while enjoying some themed crafted activities designed for all to enjoy.

Those wanting to explore the area can also enjoy a pumpkin trail – searching out clues to make up the Hallowe’en-themed words with prizes for all who complete the challenge.

Fancy dress is not only welcomed but positively competitive, with a prize for the best dressed outfit announced on Saturday evening, winning a ghoulish collection of sweet treats to devour.

Hot and cold drinks and snacks are available to purchase on site.

Clare de Bathe, director of CCDT, said: “The feedback we’ve been receiving from so many community members and local residents is that they’re frustrated with the limitations imposed on their children who still need ways and means of expending their energy, getting into the spirit of the season and simply having fun!

“We’re so happy to be able to offer this event for families and young people to enjoy, and remain here through any restrictions to support the community through all that is to come.”
