In return for a donation to the charity, volunteers from St Wilfrid’s will collect trees from supporters homes from between January 6-26.

In partnership with Chichester District Council, and supported by the Woodhorn Group, the trees will be recycled and used to create a range of Earth Cycle composts and topsoils.

“Please sign up for the St Wilfrid’s pick-up service and make a donation to their charity – their team of volunteers will collect your real trees and we will ensure it is recycled.

“You will be helping to raise vital funds for a charity very close to our hearts.”

More than 600 trees were recycled last year – with even more post codes available this year.

Alison Moorey, chief executive of St Wilfrid’s Hospice, said: “St Wilfrid’s is there for patients and their families every day of the year.

“So while we all try to enjoy some festive cheer over Christmas, our nurses, chefs and housekeeping staff will be doing their bit to give patients and their families the best Christmas possible.”

Alex Burch, St Wilfrid’s Hospice’s community fundraising manger, said: “All our tree collecting volunteers will be wearing the appropriate PPE, use hand sanitation rigorously and operate in socially responsible bubbled teams to ensure you can recycle your tree this Christmas simply and safely.”
