Sussex residents invited to remember key workers during minute’s silence

Sussex residents have been invited to join in with a minute’s silence today (Tuesday, April 28) to remember key workers who have died fighting the coronavirus.

Both Sussex Police and East Sussex Healthcare Trust issued a message on Twitter saying they will both be observing the silence at 11am as part of the International Workers’ Memorial Day.

Sussex Police said on Twitter, “In honour of every doctor, nurse, carer and key worker who has died in the fight against #Covid-19, today at 11am we will pause for a minute of silence and reflection.”

East Sussex Healthcare Trust said, “We are observing a minute’s silence at 11am today to remember the health, care and other key workers who have died from Covid-19.

“You are invited to join us in paying tribute to the friends, colleagues and loved ones we have sadly lost #NeverForgotten.”

There has been 21,092 deaths of patients in hospitals who have tested positive for coronavirus, according to coronavirus.data.gov.uk.

521 cases have been reported in East Sussex, 1,047 in West Sussex and 345 in Brighton and Hove, according to the government.
