These Chichester gardens are staying open during lockdown for autumnal walks

Visitors can enjoy the wonderful gardens and also escape with a walk through the stunning autumnal parkland – which gives great creative inspiration to artists and photographers alike.

Alexander Barron, chief executive of West Dean College of Arts and Conservation, said: “At this time, when outdoor space and fresh air are so important for people’s wellbeing, we are very pleased to be able to keep the gardens open for the local community to visit and enjoy.

“The gardens and surrounding landscape at West Dean look truly stunning in the autumn – the colours are inspirational!”

The gardens are open seven days a week, with winter opening hours from 10.30am to 4pm, and entry continues to be by timed tickets available to book online, and pre-booking is essential.

The Gardens’ Shop and Restaurant will be closed.

West Dean Gardens is also offering free entry to NHS workers plus one adult.

This also needs to be pre-booked online and ID shown on arrival.

Entry is £7 and free entry for children under 16.

Last entry is 30 minutes before closing time.

Toilet facilities are available and a stringent cleaning regime is in place.
