Wreath of remembrance laid at Chichester War Memorial

Chichester Lions Club president Linda Squires presented a wreath at the war memorial in Litten Gardens on Sunday (November 8).

It was a personal moment for Linda, who said it was a 'great honour' to represent the Chichester Lions on Remembrance Sunday.

She said: "I was able to locate the name of my grandfather, Chief Petty Officer C.E. Sait, whose name is written on the Chichester War Memorial.

"He died on the night of December 15, 1941 when his ship was torpedoed and sunk off Alexandria by a lone German submarine while they were on a routine patrol off the coast of Libya. "
