A campaign has been launched to solve a parking problem along a Selsey road, labelled ‘an accident waiting to happen’.

A petition has received more than 400 signatures to do something about the row of cars continually parked along Manor Road, outside Checkatrade.

Gary Davison launched the petition and states: “If you are a driver or pedestrian you are at risk, you cannot see any vehicle when leaving Ellis Square or Millington Drive, you have to edge your way out in the hope that oncoming vehicles will stop and let you out safely.

“At present we also have very large lorries using Manor Road for the new build East Beach Walk and delivers to Ocean Air, Arbus, and other units.

“When using Manor Road at the point where all the vehicles are parked it’s more than a hazard, I have even witnessed wing mirrors being smashed as other cars have not had enough room to go around the parked vehicles.

“It becomes more of a problem when there is an event taking place at the Selsey Centre, if the car park is at capacity, they also use the road.”

“This is an accident waiting to happen, they need a car park before someone is fatally hurt.”

The petition calls on West Sussex County Council’s highways department to act.
