PICTURE GALLERY: Jim jams to fundraise for St Richard’s

PYJAMAS and onesies replaced regular school uniform for plenty of primary schools across the area this week.

To raise money for St Richard’s Hospital, the schools took part in an annual Jim-Jam-Athon, organised by the Love Your Hospital charity.

The charity raises money for St Richard’s, as well as Worthing Hospital and Southlands Hospital.

Nicola Godwin, from the charity, thanked everyone who had taken part in the fundraising day.

“Many parents we meet at St Richard’s Hospital wanted to give something back to their local hospital so involving their wonderful children was a great way to do this,” she said.

“By wearing their jim-jams for the day they were helping our special patients have a better night’s rest in hospital.”

All the money raised by schoolchildren across the area, from Midhurst in the north to Bognor Regis in the south, will go straight to St Richard’s special care baby unit, located on the children’s ward.

“It’s so important to us to show the local community just what your fundraising can achieve and the lives it can change,” added Nicola.

Anyone who took part in the day donated £1 to wear their pyjamas, all of which in turn went to St Richard’s.

The Jim-Jam-Athon is becoming an annual event after taking place last year.
