In documents sent to Chichester District Council it includes details to carry out external building alterations including the creation of three new shop entrances to facilitate future ‘subdivision into separate retail units’.

It also includes the ‘insertion of replacement and additional mezzanine floor space’ at the store at Waterside Retail Park in Westhampnett Road.

At the beginning of this month administrators announced to BHS that all 164 of its shops will close after failing to find a buyer for the department store chain.

During this process the stores will remain open.

It is not known yet who will go into the three units but the application was submitted by Montagu Evans, a partnership of chartered surveyors and property consultants.

BHS was contacted in relation to when the store is likely to close but had yet to reply.
