Police appeal to witnesses for ‘metal bar’ assault in Bognor Regis

WITNESSES who might have seen someone attacked in Bognor Regis are being sought by police.

An appeal was issued this afternoon (June 4) after two men were assaulted in Longford Road on May 24.

“Both victims were approached by the suspect after a brief verbal exchange,” said a spokesman. “They were struck over the head with what is thought to be a metal bar repeatedly. One received a five-centimetre cut to the top of his head and the other a two-centimetre cut to the forehead.”

The two victims along with a woman were all walking home around 11.25pm.

A 32-year-old man from Bognor Regis was arrested on suspicion of grievous bodily harm with intent. He was questioned and bailed until July 13.

Police asked anyone who witnessed the incident to email [email protected] or call 101 quoting serial 1552 of May 24.
