Police break up rave in '˜deepest forest' near Eartham

Police broke up a rave attended by hundreds of people from across the country in the early hours of this morning (Sunday March 27).

A spokesman for Sussex Police said officers were first called after reports were received there was loud music coming from the ‘deepest forest’ near Eartham at around 12.15am.

On arrival police found ‘quite a lot’ of vehicles and hundreds of people from across the country gathered in the woodland.

Police said no music was being played when officers arrived and there was no report of any serious disturbance.

The attendees were all asked to leave and the area was cleared.

Police remained at the scene for several hours to direct late comers away from the area.

Officers closed off several roads to stop more people attending throughout the morning.

The A285 between Selhurst Park Road and Thicket Lane remains shut due to the incident.
