Police seek witnesses after Chichester city centre assault

A SUSPECT is on bail after a woman was ‘pushed and punched’ outside a Chichester wine shop.

Police announced this morning (June 11) they were seeking witnesses to an assault outside the Majestic Wine shop in The Hornet, Chichester.

The assault is alleged to have taken place in the early hours of Sunday morning (June 7).

“At around a quarter past midnight the victim was arguing with a man who then pushed and punched her outside the Majestic Wine shop,” said a spokesman.

“The victim, a 27-year-old woman with long blonde hair, wearing black clothes and sandals, and carrying a yellow handbag, was not injured.”

Police also said they thought the incident was a ‘domestic dispute’.

A 29-year-old man who tried to intervene was also assaulted.

He sustained facial injuries and was treated at Richard’s Hospital, Chichester.

A 32-year-old man, arrested on suspicion of common assault and assault occasioning actual bodily harm, has been bailed until June 26.

Anyone who saw what happened was asked to email [email protected] or phone 101 quoting serial 26 of June 7.
