Chichester quarry restoration plan

A FORMER quarry could be restored if an application is approved next week.

Plans for the Hambrook Marl Pit, in Marlpit Lane, Chichester, will be considered by West Sussex County Council’s planning committee on Tuesday (December 11).

Councillors are being asked to approve restoration of the site using imported materials and onsite derived materials and to approve conditions controlling lorry routing and ensuring costs if surrounding roads are damaged.

Commenting on the application, Westbourne Parish Council said stringent conditions need to be applied to protect the local community from prolonged nuisance from noise and dust and heavy vehicle movements.

Funtington Parish Council welcomed plans to restore the site but also raised concerns about HGV routes.

The meeting will be held at 10.30am at County Hall.

A reporter from the Observer will be at the meeting.
