The system, which is expected to come online around March 15 was given the nod yesterday (March 4) by Deborah Urquhart cabinet member for environment.

It will be used for six months at the household waste recycling sites in Bognor Regis, Littlehampton, Shoreham, Worthing, Crawley and Hop Oast (Horsham).

While booking should be up and running in the week commencing March 15, the system will not go live until March 29.

Councillors have until the 15th to call-in the decision for further discussion.

A notice issued by the county council confirmed that, during those six months, the scheme could be varied, expanded or even suspended if things went wrong.
