A FORMER mushroom farm could become affordable housing.
Councillors are set to debate the proposal for land north of Gribble Lane, Oving, on Wednesday (June 26).
Officers have recommended the scheme for 11 affordable homes is deferred, subject to a legal agreement, then approved.
The application site is the last remaining landholding in the village associated with Sampson Mushrooms.
Responding to the application, Oving Parish Council said it was in favour of development of brownfield sites.
However, it raised several concerns about the specifics of the application.
Particular concerns were raised about the density of the development with 11 homes and 20 car parking spaces on a ‘very small plot of land’.
The parish council also raised concerns about access to and from the site and described parking provision as ‘inadequate’.
The application will be debated at a meeting of Chichester District Council’s planning committee, set to be held at 10am on Wednesday (June 26) in East Pallant House, Chichester.
