RESULT: Brighton and Hove votes to remain in European Union

The majority of Brighton and Hove residents voted to remain in the European Union at yesterday's referendum.

The area is the 11th in Sussex to declare this morning, joining Lewes, Horsham, and Mid Sussex in backing the remain campaign, while Rother, Eastbourne, Crawley, Chichester, Adur, Worthing, and Hastings came out in favour of the leave side.

The turnout in Brighton and Hove was 74.05 per cent, and of those 31 per cent backed leave, compared to 69 per cent voting for remain.
