THE Prebendal School is going from strength to strength following its recent inspection.
The Chichester school, in West Street, achieved ‘Excellence’ in a number of areas in the Independent Schools Inspectorate report, which has just been released.
Prebendal was awarded excellent in a number of areas, including personal development, welfare, health and safety, governance, pastoral care, social, moral, spiritual and cultural development.
Boarding was also judged to be excellent, as were a significant number of lessons.
Headmaster Tim Cannell said: “We are delighted that inspectors recognised what a wonderful school we have.
We are continuing to attract families both locally and further afield with our first-class all-round education.
“We are proud of the way the school is moving forward.
“We are able to also offer a unique extended day programme and flexi boarding that suits working families.
“Our offering, right here in the heart of Chichester and with our links to the cathedral, is an attractive one for both parents and children.”
ISI inspectors also gave the school the rare exceptional grade for the choristers and the quality and provision of ensemble music.
The report comments that pupils ‘receive excellent care and support which enables them to be confident, caring and articulate’.
It adds that ‘the outstanding level of pupils’ musical achievements is a particular strength of the school’.
The Prebendal is the oldest school in Sussex and will hold its open afternoon on Monday, May 18.
