PREPARATIONS have been made for a winter of snow and ice.
West Sussex County Council has prepared its communities by providing them all with salt supplies, tarpaulin, snow ploughs, salt spreaders and road closure signs.
It has also ensured 1,200 tonnes of extra salt will be available this year, compared to last year.
Winter plans have been created in each community so residents will know what action to take.
Workshops have been given to community volunteers in how to use salt correctly and clear ice and snow.
Pieter Montyn, county council cabinet member for highways and transport, said: “We have worked extensively this year to make sure our towns and villages know how to respond if the weather turns for the worse.
“We are confident West Sussex communities will respond effectively to any snow and ice incidents this winter.”
