Highways England officials are expected to meet with ‘key stakeholders’ today to discuss the latest on the A27 improvement plans.

The leaders of West Sussex County Council and Chichester District Council, Louise Goldsmith and Tony Dignum, are understood to be amongst the select number of councillors invited to attend.

The meeting is scheduled to take place at 3pm and is not open to the public or members of the press.

A number of councillors are said to have had requests to attend rejected, including cllr Mike Hall (district councillor for Lavant).

Highways England is expected to lead a presentation on the current proposals for improving the A27 around Chichester.

All seven route options - including options to improve the current stretch and two for a new northern bypass through Lavant - are expected to be taken forward to public consultations in the spring.
