Reprieve for '˜speeding' Fernhurst motorists

When Paul Wilkinson triggered the speed camera on the A286 at Fernhurst, he was pretty sure he hadn't broken the speed limit.

So he went back and videoed himself clocking 38 to 39mph in a 40mph zone. Now the police have moved to reassure anyone caught speeding between August 12-16.

Camera Enforcement Officer Chris Snell said: “The speed camera was removed from its casing on Friday, August 12. It was replaced, but the speed threshold was set too low. This was corrected on Tuesday, 16 August. During this time period, any motorists who were flashed by the camera while driving under the 40mph speed limit will not receive a fine or fixed penalty notice.”
