FIRE broke out in a recycling and refuse truck in Chichester this afternoon near the old barracks at Roussillon Park.
The blaze was quickly put out by a crew from West Sussex Fire and Rescue after being called at 12.53pm today, but as you can see from this reader picture it caused quite a lot of mess.
The fire caught hold of the rear of the truck, where rubbish and recycling was stored, and took place near the junction of Osbourne Mews and Donegall Avenue.
The county’s firefighters are currently taking part in a national 24-hour strike over a pensions dispute and operating at a reduced capacity and the passer by who snapped this great picture praised the quick response.
Dennis Low said: “A big thank you to the fire service for responding so quickly to a fire in a recycling truck today on Roussillon Park.”
