Selsey lifeboat week raises nearly £20,000

A HUGE £19,611 was raised for the Selsey Lifeboat Station on Lifeboat week.

It’s an annual event in the town, and the charity’s biggest fundraising event of the year – and this year was no different.

The lifeboat week, which began on Saturday, July 26, featured a wide range of events

There was a beach fishing competition, a clay pigeon shoot, a sea service, lifeboat open day, fun dog show, treasure hunts, quiz nights and race nights, to name a few events.

The big events were held on Friday, August 1, with a tug of war and firework display on Lifeboat Green, and the lifeboat launch day on Sunday, August 3, with an air display and raft race.

Selsey lifeboat fundraising chairman Tracy Riddolls said: “We’ve had so much support from locals all week.

“On behalf of everyone at the lifeboat station, I would really like to thank everyone, including our sponsors.

“We appreciate the support of residents and the community and we hope everyone enjoyed themselves.”
