IT WAS party time for one nursery in Selsey as it celebrated its 21st birthday.

Children at Coles Nursery School at Chichester Road joined staff in marking the special occasion.

Owner Sue Mortimer said: “It was absolutely excellent. We had a bouncy castle in the nursery and the children had a fantastic time.”

The nursery’s birthday was on April 8 but because this was Easter Sunday, it was decided to hold a party on April 20.

Sue added: “The children had a picnic lunch that was made by the staff, and there was also a specially made birthday cake. The nursery started as a small acorn, but has grown into a well-known oak tree.”

The nursery is situated in the grounds of a seventeenth century farmhouse. It has received the West Sussex Quality Award which recognises the nursery’s quality of care and good practise.
