Selsey owl sanctuary on the mend after storm

Owls About Town in Park Lane lost five of its aviaries when Katie hit last month.

Andy Kendall said: “It was like a cyclone. I have a weather station and it clocked the wind at 106mph.

“We put something on Facebook, and the next morning we had people come over to help.”

The storm caused more than £10,000 worth of damage.

Andy said: “Thankfully none of the birds were injured.

“Many are still in temporary accommodation but we are hoping in the next week the aviaries will all be finished and the owls can move back in.”

The money for the rebuild was raised through a Crowdfunding site.

Andy, 48, explained: “We had no idea it had been set up, a friend of ours did it.

“The target was the £2,000 we needed and it was raised in four days and people are still donating.

“We have just been overwhelmed by the support, people have been so kind.”

The sanctuary has 35 owls and offers hands on experience to individuals, nursing and residential homes, schools, charity events, and team building sessions.
