Selsey lifeboat crew were called out to assist a seven-metre yacht after it suffered from an engine failure.

The RNLI all-weather lifeboat Voluntary Worker was launched on June 11 at 5.46pm to assist the yacht Lee Bijou, which had two men on board.

The small yacht and crew had crossed the Channel from France and had suffered engine failure about four miles southwest of Selsey Bill.

The lifeboat towed the yacht into the harbour at 5.22pm.

On June 8 Voluntary Worker was launched to assist the Hayling inshore lifeboat which had been launched on the limit of its operating conditions, to assist a windsurfer in difficulty about 200 yards offshore from the Chichester Harbour entrance.

There was also concern for another possible casualty nearby but it proved to be just an abandoned board.
