A SHOP solely run by volunteers is set to celebrate its 20th anniversary celebrations next month.
Volunteers at St Wilfrid’s Hospice shop in Selsey are planning some special events to mark its birthday.
Six of the volunteers who were there on the first day are still part of the 25-strong team of volunteers.
“After retiring, I decided to volunteer in the Selsey Hospice Shop which was just opening in the High Street,” said Nancy Davis, one of the shop’s original volunteers. “Volunteering gives one a purpose in life, raising money for sick people, also meeting all the lovely customers.”
Managers Fiona Pugh and Rose Blunden have planned a special celebration lunch at the Seal Hotel in Selsey and most of the volunteers will be attending as well as other hospice staff and trustees.
They praised the ‘dedication and enthusiasm’ of the shop’s volunteers and thanked Selsey residents for their generous donations over the years.
