A councillor says he was ‘very surprised’ by a complaint from a resident about Spitfires from Goodwood flying over Selsey.
Cllr Roger Barrow, Chichester District Councillor for Selsey South, posted on his Facebook page: “My overwhelming impression is the pride many residents feel in watching this iconic aircraft flying over their homes.”
Of more than 350 comments to his post, the vast majority agreed.
One person said: “To hear and see such iconic aircraft is a privilege.”
Another said: “It’s a lovely sound and we are lucky to hear them.”
However one man said: “Love seeing it fly over, just wish all the little planes that fly over would keep over the sea and not the houses.”
Boultbee Flight Academy also posted a message which said: “As the company that operates the Spitfires in question it is quite humbling to read the overwhelmingly positive support expressed in these comments. Thank you!”
