‘Serious’ fire at Hambrook bungalow

FIRE crews battled what has been called a ‘serious’ fire in a bungalow in Hambrook in the early hours of this morning, Tuesday, June 2.

Four fire engines were sent to the property after receiving an emergency call at 3.24am reporting that an attached garage was on fire.

There are no reports of anyone trapped or of any injuries, though West Sussex Fire & Rescue Service said there had been 20 per cent fire damage to the bungalow and 50 per cent damage from smoke.

The blaze is thought to have started in the roof of the garage accidentally.

Fire officers are due to reinspect the property this morning.

Two engines were sent from Chichester, one from Emsworth and one from Havant and firefighters were still on the scene at 6.55am this morning.
