Signalling problems cause major delays for Sussex rail commuters

Rail commuters have faced severe delays this evening (Wednesday January 27) following signalling problems.

Train services between Chichester and Portsmouth / Southampton have been severely disrupted due to the signal equipment problem in the Havant area.

Replacement buses were requested to operate between Chichester and Havant seving the normal replacement bus stops at Fishbourne, Bosham, Nutbourne, Southbourne, Emsworth and Warblington.

Although some lines were reopened earlier, the impact has been that train services have been delayed by up to 35 minutes or suspended between Chichester and Havant.

This has had a knock-on effect to services through the Arun Valley up to London and east to Brighton.
