The pub on South Street, which is owned by Greene King, invited the Mayor of Chichester, Councillor Peter Budge, to the official opening following an extensive transformation.

The opening took place on National Chocolate Cake Day, so the first 50 guests through the doors who ordered food were rewarded with a free slice of chocolate brownie to celebrate the reopening.

The Mayor enjoyed a slice of cake, joined the team to cut the official ribbon, and took a tour of the enhanced rooms and features.

Mr Budge said: “It was fantastic to join Wayne and the rest of the Chichester community to officially open the newly refurbished Trents.

“The new look is stunning and will help to ensure the pub’s continued place as a vibrant and important part of the local community.”

General manager Wayne Kent said: “We were honoured to have the Mayor of Chichester, Councillor Peter Budge, join us for the opening of the pub.

“He is very well respected in the community and we were thrilled that he was able to attend the launch and offer his support.

“We loved giving away 50 slices of our famous chocolate brownie, and the opening was a real success with great feedback on the delicious new menu and the fantastic interiors.

“My team and I look forward to welcoming more guests in the coming weeks.”

As part of the investment, Trents has received a complete makeover, introducing a lighter colour scheme with some signature pieces of furniture and contemporary fixtures.

The bar has been completely revamped, with selection of cocktails and wines on offer, and the large patio alfresco area has been refreshed with a trendy ‘shed bar’, which is available to hire.

The food offering has also been enhanced, with the pub unveiling a new menu, including daily specials, a roast selection, and dishes such as 28-day Aged Black Angus Steak and sharers such as the Fish and Chips Board.
