Success for Macmillan coffee morning events

Macmillan Cancer Support’s annual World’s Biggest Coffee Morning event takes place on Friday, September 30. Events took place across the area.

Ivory&Pitch, the interiors and homeware store, hosted a charity event and raised £300. Owner Caroline Ivory held the community fundraiser at the shop in Westbourne, where customers donated a total of raised £300.

Chichester Yacht Club flew the flag for charity with a coffee and cake morning on Friday, raising more than £800 and attracting nearly 100 visitors. Organiser Helen Jupp and her team of helpers were delighted to be so well supported.

Aldingbourne Tennis club raised a sum of £209 for the event, in spite of heavy rain. 20 members and friends attended.

Colten Care’s Wellington Grange care home in Chichester helped to raise more than £2,100. Braving the shave were clinical lead Carmen Flueras, customer advisor Richard Upshall, healthcare assistant Emily Lawrence and waiter Will Barber. The coffee morning also featured cakes baked by the home’s chefs.

Parents and friends of Great Ballard School helped to raise just under £300 at its coffee morning. Children and parents baked cakes to sell in aid of the charity whilst the school’s chef, David, baked some treats. Parents and pupils from Oakwood School in chichester also raised £300.

Visitors to Pallant House Galley enjoyed coffee provided by the Gallery’s headline sponsor De’Longhi and cakes provided by volunteers and staff. Around £600 was raised.

Events were also held at Birdcage Barn on Birdham Road, Chichester, Church Farm in Bosham, and Marriott House and Lodge Care Home in Chichester.

Theresa Shell, general manager at Marriott House and Lodge Care Home, said: “Holding our own Macmillan coffee morning has been a huge amount of fun and everyone at the home is always keen to support this fantastic charity in any way we can. We are very glad to be able to do our bit to raise further awareness and money for the charity.”
