It was the tenth year for this popular annual event in the village.

The Christmas Tree Festival had 52 unique trees, representing local families, organisations, businesses and charities, on display in the recently completely redecorated church.

Karen Grunert, publicity officer, said: “The effect was absolutely beautiful.”

St Anne’s was the venue on Friday evening for Jazz in the Aisles, where the talented members of Chichester band Chi Jazz treated the audience to an evening of smooth jazz classics, which had them dancing in the aisles.

The annual Christmas Fair at East Wittering Village Hall on Saturday, with its various stalls, attracted many visitors.

The Christingle and Toy Service for families was held on Sunday in a full church and feature music from the Salvation Army Band.

James from the Salvation Army explained how the sacks full of generously donated toys would be distributed to 120 families in need at Christmas.

The collection during the service will be given to the Children’s Society.

Father Steve Davies explained the significance of the Christingle and Father Dennis Cornish lit a candle on a model of a Christingle orange, which was made by his daughter Elisabeth shortly before she died recently.

Karen added: “Everyone was given a Christingle orange during this very special service.”
