Sussex Woman of the Year Awards 2014: Katy is nominated for success story

A HARD-WORKING mother of two from Mid Sussex has been nominated for a Woman of the Year award.

Katy Jobbins, who set up her business in Wivelsfield, is being recognised in the category of Success Story for her commitment to her business and her ‘positive’ outlook on life.

She has joined the Woman of the Year shortlist of nominees for her work founding one of the UK’s most successful academies for training permanent makeup technicians.

The person who nominated her for this award said: “Katy is both visionary in her goals, deterministic in her desires and consistent in her approach to everything she sets out to do.

“Katy has an incredibly positive attitude towards life which is reflected in how she runs her training academy.”

Katy said she was dedicated to helping people from all walks of life set up their own successful permanent makeup business.

“To continue both my own success and to ensure the success of the students I train, I decided I wanted to tutor people on a one-to-one basis as this would mean I could instil confidence and also give them the necessary technical and business skills to succeed,” said Katy.

“This year has been busier than ever and I feel my personal and business success has risen to a whole new level – in January of this year, I was asked to be the very first permanent makeup expert for the Guild News Magazine.

“I have also spent more than six months and 1,000 hours developing and creating an informative and interactive permanent makeup training website, which includes more than 250 demonstrations along with help and advice for people thinking about starting a career in the industry.

The person who nominated Katy said: “I have no hesitation to recommend Katy for the Success Story award, as she has developed a training programme which has changed people’s lives in a way rarely seen in most small businesses.”

Katy’s business has also won a Best Business Award for 2009, a Crème de la Crème Business Award for 2010, a Business Matters Award for 2012 and a Woman of the Year Award for 2013.

“I plan to continue to strive to be at the forefront of the beauty industry,” she said.

The Woman of the Year Awards will take place on Friday, July 18 at Fontwell Racecourse.
