Thousands up for grabs in Chichester charity funding boost

A FUNDING boost for local charities this summer could see up to £10,000 being handed to causes in the area.

A new scheme will be launched on June 17 to make it easier for residents to support the community groups on their doorsteps.

The Chichester Summer of Giving will see match funding offered each time donors set up a direct debit to a Chichester district community group who have a page on

Donors must pledge a minimum of £10 a month for a year to see their money matched by Voluntary Action Arun and Chichester (VAAC), working in partnership with Sussex Community Foundation, Chichester District Council and Chichester in Partnership. Coupled with Gift Aid, the scheme could turn a regular £10 monthly donation into £270 over the course of a year.

“We work day in, day out with small charities and community groups doing fantastic work supporting their communities across the district and we know how tough times are for them at the moment,” said Kate Scales, VAAC development manager.

If you are a charity and community group working in Chichester district (with at least 50 per cent of beneficiaries being residents of Chichester district) and would like to take part, call Kate Scales on 01243 840305.

Groups have until June 7 to build a page on Each charity or community group can have a maximum of £480 in monthly £10 donations matched.
