Crowds gathered this morning (Thursday) as TK Maxx opened its doors for the first time.
The new discount clothes store is located in the old Little London Walk shopping arcade in East Street and is set over two floors.
A TK Maxx spokesperson said: “We think that Chichester’s shoppers will love having TK Maxx on their doorstep.
“TK Maxx is a store that offers a huge choice of great value style, for the wardrobe and the home all under one roof.
“With thousands of new items arriving each week, customers will always find something individual and special at a great price every time they visit.”
Offering big labels at up to 60 per cent less than the RRP, brands in store include DKNY, Diesel, Carvela and Le Creuset.
TX Maxx had previously kept tight lipped on any details of its new branch - initially insisting it was ‘not looking’ to open in Chichester when the Observer first revealed the company’s interest in 2014.
The company has never officially even announced it will open - though a planning application submitted in August last year to install the bright signs that are now in place on the former shopping arcade confirmed the worst kept planning secret in Chichester.
The first signs of the store opening was when posters appeared in the window back in January.
