Stagecoach announces results of evening and Sunday service review

Bus operator Stagecoach has announced which evening and Sunday services it will continue to fund following the bus subsidy cuts announced by West Sussex County Council over the summer.

The company said it had carried out a full ‘commercial evaluation’ of affected routes. It said since original contracts had been awarded there had been ‘considerable changes’ in travel patterns as a result of Sunday trading and its own investment which meant that many services were strong enough for it to continue without support on Sundays. Changes will start in January 2012.

Services Sunday and public holiday service which are continuing in the Observer area are:

- The Link 51: Chichester - Selsey

- The Circuit 52/53: Chichester – The Witterings

- Route 60: Bognor – Chichester – Midhurst

- 1: Worthing – Midhurst (this route will now only run between Worthing and Pulborough on Sundays).

Departures from Pulborough will be at 10am, Midday, 2pm, 4pm and 6pm.

The following Sunday services in this area will be withdrawn, because Stagecoach said passenger numbers using them were insufficient to cover their costs.

91: Midhurst – Petersfield

55: Chichester – Tangmere

Evening services to be continued:

The Link 51: Chichester – Selsey

Mondays to Thursdays the last journey from Chichester to Selsey will be 8pm and from Selsey to Chichester 8.35pm. On Fridays and Saturdays the full evening service will remain with last departures at 11pm.

The Circuit 52/53: Chichester – The Witterings

Mondays to Thursdays the last journey from Chichester to the Witterings will be 8.12pm. On Fridays and Saturdays the full evening service will remain with last departures at 10.12pm.

55: Chichester – Tangmere

Mondays to Saturdays the last journey from Chichester to Tangmere will be 8.34pm the last trip from Tangmere to Chichester will be 8.12pm.

Route 60: Bognor – Chichester – Midhurst

Mondays to Saturdays the last journey from Chichester to Bognor and Elmer will be 7.47pm the last journey from Elmer will be 8.40pm calling at Bognor High Street at 8.58pm.

From Chichester to Midhurst the last journey will depart at 7.36pm with the last bus from Midhurst to Chichester at 8.10pm.
