The A286 New Road in Midhurst was blocked by a fallen tree near the junction with Heath field Green, which also took out overhead power cables, according to Midhurst Fire Station.

A spokesman said in a post on Facebook at around 3.40pm: “Crew are providing scene safety awaiting arrival of other agencies.

“The road is closed and will be for some time.”

According to Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks, there were no ongoing power issues in the area this morning.
