UPDATE: A286 reopened following car fire

The A286 Singleton has now reopened following a car fire, police have confirmed.

Police said they were called to a collision involving two cars, of which only one was on fire, at just after 8am this morning (November 30).

A spokesperson said: “The road has been closed near the Town Lane junction.

“We believe there was an incident involving two vehicles.

“One vehicle has been reported as on fire and there are currently no injuries to report.”

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service confirmed they were called to the incident at 7.54am.

A spokesperson for WSFRS said: “We sent the fire crew from Midhurst and two breathing apparatus and two hose reels were used.

“One car was well alight and has been destroyed by the fire.

“Fire crews have handed over to the police and confirmed there were no injuries to report.”
