A272 incident near Rogate: Patient airlifted to hospital with ‘potentially serious injuries’

A person was airlifted to hospital with potentially serious injuries after a car left the A272 near Rogate this morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene near Chithurst Lane at 6.46am, where a car had left the road.

The road was closed while crews from Midhurst and Petworth fire station carried out a rescue.

They released one person from the vehicle using hydraulic rescue equipment, thanks to support from the Heavy Rescue Tender from Chichester.

An ambulance service spokesman said the patient was assessed and treated at the scene, before being airlifted to Royal Sussex County Hospital in Brighton with potentially serious injuries
