Aldingbourne trailer fire '˜was deliberate'

A fire which destroyed a catering trailer parked in Aldingbourne is believed to have been started deliberately.

West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service received 26 calls alerting it to the blaze, in Norton Lane, shortly before 9pm on Thursday night, July 28.

A spokeswoman for the service said the catering trailer was completely destroyed.

Investigations suggest it was ‘deliberate ignition’, and a propane cylinder was removed from the trailer and cooled, she said.

There were no reports of any injuries.

Firefighters were on the scene for around 50 minutes, and two crews, one from Chichester and one from Bognor Regis, extinguished the fire using breathing apparatus and a hose reel.

The fire service spokeswoman added: “We had 26 calls about it so there must have been quite a plume.”
