POLICE have released an appeal to anyone who saw a car crash into a traffic island in Bosham last week.
The driver of the black Peugeot 406 abandoned the car, which left the road after the crash at about 10.45pm on Monday, November 4 on the A259.
The car, which is registered to an address in Portsmouth, had been travelling eastbound when it knocked down two lampposts before ending up smoking in a hedgerow by the side of the road.
PC Ben Henwood said: “The car suffered substantial damage in the crash but the driver left the scene before the emergency services could arrive.
“We do not know why the car was in the centre of the road and hit the traffic island.
“The driver may have been injured in the crash so I am keen to speak to anyone who knows someone who suffered mysterious injuries on Monday night that could have been the result of a collision.
“I’d also like to speak to anyone who saw the crash or the vehicle being driven in the minutes before it hit the traffic island.”
Anyone with information should call 101 quoting serial 1575.
