COUNTY NEWS: Injured man is trapped in 16 foot deep trench

Firefighters are on the scene of an accident where a man is trapped after falling 16 feet into a trench.

They were called to Oakhurst Lane in Loxwood shortly after 12.30pm today (Thursday, July 14) after reports that the man had fallen into a large construction trench.

Billingshurst firefighters were first on the scene.

They have now been joined by the rescue tender from Crawley and a crew from the West Sussex Fire and Rescue Service technical rescue team.

The man is reported to have suffered a head injury.
