Person dies after being hit by train near Chichester

A person has been struck and killed by a train near Chichester.

There are rail delays of around an hour from Havant to Horsham and Brighton stations after the incident at Drayton, near Chichester.

A spokeswoman for South East Coast Ambulance service the person died at the scene.

An ambulance crew was sent to the area just after 8pm. The train driver was checked over by the crew.

The National Rail website warned disruption could last until at least 10pm.

It added that people may use South West Trains services on some routes and the number 700 bus between Littlehampton and Havant.

British Transport Police said it could not comment as the incident was ongoing.
