Update: Woman pronounced dead after being hit by train

A woman was pronounced dead at the scene after she was struck by a train near a level crossing in Bosham, police have said.

Police were called to the line near Newells Lane at 4.24pm on Thursday (November 5).

A British Transport Police spokesman said: “BTP and Sussex Police officers attended the incident, which is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from South East Coast Ambulance Service also attended and a woman, believed to be 66 and from the local area, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The woman’s family have been informed and a file will be prepared for the coroner.”
