TRAVEL: Chaos expected due to Southern Rail strike

Widespread disruption is predicted across East and West Sussex, Hampshire, Surrey, London and Kent, due to '˜the longest rail strike since 1968'.

Having started at midnight, the strike follows a ‘bitter dispute’ between parent rail firm Govia Thameslink (GTR) and the RMT union over the role of conductors.

Hundred of trains have been cancelled with reports stating Southern Rail will run ‘60 per cent of its services’ during the five-day walkout.

No trains are running between:

Havant - Chichester

Horsham - Dorking

Redhill - Tonbridge

Haywards Heath - Seaford (buses between Lewes and Seaford)

Oxted - Uckfield

Preston Park - Hove

Tulse Hill - West Norwood

Other lines are running between 07:30 and 18:00 only:

Chichester - Three Bridges

London Victoria - Three Bridges

London Bridge - East Grinstead

Brighton - Littlehampton/Bognor Regis
